BOUDOIR

Rachel S

Rachel, 27. Second session. Geelong Studio.

“The photos you take you will have for a lifetime. And on the days where you’re not doing great or just having a bad day, they are there to look at and remind yourself who you are and what you are capable of doing.”

That’s from Rachel’s post-session questionnaire. She wrote it after her second session with us.

She’s 27. She came back because the first time was that good.

Why she came back

Most clients who book a boudoir session spend weeks or months building up to it. They’ve thought about it, talked themselves out of it, thought about it again. When they finally walk through the door, the nerves are real.

Rachel’s said this about her first session:

“When I came in the first time, I wasn’t as nervous as I should have been. Because it’s a big thing. And then I came in, and then I was kind of nervous for, like, all of five minutes. And then that just went.”

Just like more than half of our clients, she went home, sat with the experience, looked at her photos, and thought: I want to do that again.

So she did.

What she was thinking going in

Before her second session, Rachel mentioned in her questionnaire that her active job had made it hard to keep weight on recently, that clothes weren’t fitting or sitting the same way they used to.

“I have struggled with keeping weight on recently as my job is very active and I feel like clothes don’t fit or sit as nice as they used to, but I know after this shoot I will feel different.”

She came in already knowing she’d feel different, not just hoping because she’d done it before. She already had the evidence.

The Session

On the day itself, there was nothing to break through. The nerves were just absent.

“So bloody good. It is just the best day.”

She described the studio as a sanctuary. Tucked away from the street below, private, quiet, with its own kind of energy that she said was hard to explain from the outside.

“I feel like if you walk in here, there’s no one else walking by that can see, or anyone that can just walk up and walk in by accident. It’s a really comfortable space. And then once you get into it, you just forget about it. You’re just in it. You’re just doing it.”

That’s the thing she kept coming back to. The forgetting. The point in the session where you stop thinking about what your doing and you’re just doing it.

The Reveal

When Rachel saw her photos, her first reaction was so sweet.

“Ahh they are so amazing again. They are works of art.”

She’d come in with reasonable expectations. She thought she’d probably get a handful of images she liked. What she saw was something else.

“I’m pleasantly surprised. When I saw them, I thought, yeah, this was amazing. Like, yeah, phenomenal.”

She chose a collection and left talking about what she wanted to do differently next time.

What she’d say to someone on the fence

“Don’t be nervous, because the minute you get into the studio you will have completely forgotten what you were nervous about. If someone is thinking about booking, just do it. I can guarantee you will not regret it and you will definitely end up coming back for another shoot.”

She said that on her second visit. That’s worth more than anything we could say about it.

What keeps people coming back

Rachel said something during her reveal that stuck.

“It’s pretty special to see yourself, not only captured from someone else’s point of view, but in such high quality. The lighting and everything.”

Most people have never had a photo of themselves taken that way. Properly lit, in a space built for it, by someone directing every frame. Rachel had now seen that twice. She’s planning a third.

Rachel has now seen it twice. She’s planning a third.

Rachel’s images are shared with her full written consent.

If you’ve been thinking about it..

Rachel said it better than we could: just do it. You won’t regret it.
