If this is your first time considering a boudoir session and you’re travelling from Melbourne or the surrounding area, this page covers everything, not the philosophy of it, not a promise of transformation, just what actually happens in order so nothing catches you off guard.

Once you book, Jake sends through a preparation guide, what to bring, how to prep your skin, what to eat that morning, what kinds of outfits photograph well. You’ll have a call with Jake beforehand where you can ask anything you’re unsure about.
The studio has a client wardrobe, so if you don’t have much lingerie or you’re unsure what to bring, there are always options.
Geelong is about an hour from Melbourne’s CBD. Most Melbourne clients drive down and make it a half-day out. Easy parking in central Geelong near the studio.
A few clients have told us the drive helped, arriving somewhere unfamiliar made it easier to be present rather than distracted by the usual background noise of their week.

You arrive at the studio in central Geelong. The only people there are you, Sabrina and Beck our makeup artist and close friend. You’re welcomed in, shown around, and given a chance to settle before anything starts. If you’d like to bring a support person, you can.
Professional hair and makeup is included in the session fee, done at the studio. This is also the settling-in part of the day. By the time the makeup is done, you’ve been in the space for an hour, had a conversation, and the camera isn’t a shock. If you have a style you love, bring reference photos.

Sabrina directs every single shot. Where your hands go, how your body is angled, where to look, what to do with your jaw. You follow the instruction. Your job is not to already know how to do this.
The first twenty minutes are usually the hardest.
Almost everyone feels self-conscious at the start. That’s completely normal and built into the session structure. By the halfway point, most people have settled. The two-hour window exists partly for this reason.
Four sets, three to five outfit changes.
The studio has four distinct sets. You move between them throughout the session. Outfit changes give natural pause points.
Snacks and drinks throughout.
You’re there for a few hours. It’s not a formal modelling job. Eat the biscuit.
When the shoot wraps, you leave with your reveal appointment booked for 2–3 weeks later. Nothing about images or purchases happens today.
You come back for a private appointment with Jake. You sit down, see your edited images for the first time, and go through them properly, no rush, no pressure. If you want to purchase an album, prints, or digital images, that happens here.
Most clients describe the reveal as the most significant part of the whole experience. The gap between what they expected to see and what they actually see tends to be the thing that stays with them.
You see them before you buy anything. If there are images you’re not happy with, you don’t purchase them.
You’ll almost certainly feel awkward at the start. The session is structured around that. [More: /will-i-feel-awkward-at-boudoir-session/]
No. You can say no to any pose, any level of undress, at any point. [More: /boudoir-session-boundaries-what-you-can-say-no-to/]
